Welcome readers,
I am very glad to start this blog, my name is Irene and I am a 23 years old naval engineer from Barcelona. Currently, I am doing my Master in Hydrodynamics for Ocean Engineering at École Centrale de Nantes. Since I was young I had a huge interest in sciences, technology and engineering. My main interest was in the engineering field of naval architecture, which motivated me to start this blog.
The idea is to publish once a week technical articles related to the field of naval engineering, covering different topics such as marine engines, architecture, propulsion and systems, among others. Whereas, it will be constantly updated to be at the forefront of the new emerging technologies. Furthermore, this space is intended to be open to receive proposals from you, readers, in which to investigate and treat adding related content.
Differnt purposes leaded me to create this blog. Firstly, to gather all the knowledge acquired during my academic life and professional experience. Besides, to deepen in my career by means of own research and make more accessible information as naval industry is a very small closed sector. Another reason was the aim of raising awareness among young people to study this field since, it is very specific and unknown but can result in very different job opportunities that can be of interest, such as renewable energies, composite materials or classification societies, among others. So, in this way encourage students, above all, women, given that they are a clear minority within this sector.
Therefore, I really hope that the content of this blog will be of assistance for students of this amazing field or as “entertainment” for people interested in these topics.
